McLean and Tysons Corner Rotary Clubs are working together to provide an opportunity for individuals, companies, and organizations to honor their heroes with American Flags displayed in multiple locations throughout the McLean community.

Annually, on three commemorative occasions, The Mclean and Tysons Corner Virginia Rotary CLubs Flags for Heroes program honors, with American Flags, the people who have protected us, shaped us, inspired us, and, who often paid the ultimate price.

The flags are displayed on each occasion in highly trafficked areas in the Tysons and Mclean Communities.

Memorial Day Week – May 22-30, 2022
Independence Day Week – June 26-July 5, 2022
Veterans Day Week – November 6- November 13, 2022

Displays may be viewed at the following locations:

  • American Legion Post 270 – 1355 Balls Hill Rd, McLean, Virginia
  • Sharon Masonic Lodge – 999 Balls Hill Rd, McLean, Virginia
  • Garfield Memorial Christian Church – 1731 Great Falls Street, McLean, Virginia

Individual Sponsorship

Individuals can sponsor a flag or multiple flags with a medallion honoring their “hero”.  Each medallion has the hero’s name inscribed on the reverse side of the medallion.

Corporate Sponsorship

Corporate sponsors are recognized with large banners displayed in front of the Flags. All sponsors will have individual medallions attached to the number of flags. Individual sponsors and corporate sponsors will have individual medallions attached to a flag. The number of medallions and flags in commensurate with levels of sponsorship.

Community Involvement

The Flags for Heroes Program has community involvement to include the Scouts and others who erect flags at the locations.  The Scouts receive credit for their merit badges and community service in addition to showing their patriotism in helping with the FFH Program.

Where Do The Sponsorship Funds Go?

The funds raised by Rotary clubs through FFH are used to support local charitable activities to include: fighting homelessness, and installing blessing boxes which support the undeserved during the pandemic.  All fundraising is conducted by volunteers. There are NO paid fundraising activities.

Community & In-Kind Sponsorships

Organizations that provide outreach to the community, recruit sponsors, or provide goods and services for the Flags for Heroes program may be listed on banners and receive recognition as community sponsors.
